First, the part most guides skip: painted vs. printed
Nearly every patterned tie on the market is printed. The design is pressed into the fabric in seconds, thousands at a time, and the ink lives inside the weave.
Hand-painted is a different object. The paint sits on the silk. Hold one at an angle to the light and you can see the calligraphy has thickness — the pressure of the brush is visible in the stroke. A letter that ran a little wide stays a little wide. That's not a flaw in the process; it is the process.

Then check the metal against his wardrobe. Gold calligraphy (HIICH, DELKHAH, KHOMAR-E-MASTI, JANAN, SANAM) sits warm and reads as formal — best with charcoal, black and brown. Is the calligraphy really painted by hand?
Yes. Every piece in the Persian Heritage Series is painted in San Diego, one at a time, on ties handmade in Italy. Nothing in this series is printed. Under a raking light you can see the raised edge of the brushstroke.
Can I have his name put on it?
Yes — stitched into the back of the blade, at no extra cost. You choose it at checkout. Most ties have an empty back; this one won't.
What is the identity code?
Each tie is registered as an individual object and comes with its own code on a card in the box. It's how a piece that took hours to paint stops being a product and starts being his.
He doesn't read Persian. Does that matter?
No — and that's most of our customers. The story card in the box carries the verse, the transliteration and the translation, so he can tell anyone who asks. The calligraphy reads as ornament to everyone else in the room, which is part of the appeal.
How long does a personalized order take?

How do I care for it?
Dry clean only — never machine wash, and don't spot-clean the painted area with water. Untie by reversing the knot rather than pulling it through. Roll it loosely or hang it; don't fold it at the painted section.
